Visual Layout

Premium

Arranging clips has never been this easy.

See every clip at the playhead as a box on the canvas. Drag them where you want, then press a button to align, space, size or arrange the whole set at once - or generate a complete layout in a single press.

The canvas, every mode's dialogs and 2 Up are free. See plans for what's premium.

Built for multi-clip work

Select, crop and arrange - all at once

Pick as many clips as you want, then drag to crop, move or resize the whole set together - not one clip at a time. Reach for an instant layout when you want the arrangement done for you.

✓
Drag a corner to crop a clip right on the canvas.
✓
Select several clips and move, resize or space them as one group.
✓
Generate a full clip arrangement in one press with the layout modes.

The canvas

Drag your clips into place. Resolve follows.

Live View
Real previews at real sizes, so you pick clips by looking at them rather than by guessing.
Show Frame
Your actual Resolve frame behind the boxes, so you are composing against the shot, not against a grey rectangle.
Snapping
Clips snap to each other, to the frame centre, and to the thirds - with margins that read the same on all four edges of a widescreen frame.

The canvas is free on every plan: picking clips, dragging, resizing, zoom, pan and Snap all included.

Five layouts in one press

One-press generators for the layouts you build over and over

2 Up
Free
Split the frame side by side or stacked, drag the divider, done.
Grid
Premium apply
Any grid up to 8×8, with margins, padding and three ways to fill a cell.
Path
Premium apply
Eight shapes - line, arc, wave, polygon, frame, spiral, zig-zag and a staggered alternate.
Pack
Premium apply
Tile every clip into the frame like a puzzle, then shuffle until it looks right.
Hero
Premium apply
One clip big against an edge, the rest in a grid beside it.

Every dialog opens on any plan - all the settings work and the preview draws locally. Only the Apply button is gated.

Path: eight shapes to run your clips along
Line
Run your clips along a line at any angle, in the order you pick.
Alternate
Stagger your clips either side of a line, alternating the tilt.
Arc
Curve your clips across the frame, in the order you pick.
Wave
Ripple your clips across the frame, in the order you pick.
Polygon
Ring your clips around a triangle, square or any polygon.
Frame
Ring your clips around the edge of the frame.
Spiral
Wind your clips out from the centre of the frame.
Zig-zag
Step your clips across the frame in a zig-zag.

Precision tools

For when a generator gets you close, not exact

Spacing
Equal centres or equal gaps - the Figma distinction, in Resolve.
Block Align & Scale
Move the whole arrangement as one piece, gaps intact, or scale it so it reads the same at a different size.
Edge Snap & Thirds
Send clips to a frame edge, corner, centre, or a rule-of-thirds point - both axes in one press.
Rotation & Nudge
A dial and a direction pad for rotation; an arrow pad with a chosen step for fine positioning.

Precision tools

Auto Spacing

Spread your clips out evenly, at the gap you set - or let Visual Layout work out the gap for you. Two modes, so you pick exactly what "equal" means:

Position
Equal distance between clip centres - an even rhythm down the run.
Gap
Equal space between clip edges - the same breathing room everywhere, whatever size each clip is.

Undo that means it

Twenty steps deep, and it names what it's about to undo

A stack, not a step
Press Undo four times and you walk back four actions, capped at 20 entries.
One entry per gesture
A 200-tick drag is one undo, not two hundred. Repeated one-shots inside 800ms coalesce.
Named, and shared
The tooltip names the action, e.g. "Grid" or "Nudge x6" - and undo on the phone what you did at the desk.
